The Ford Mustang debuted in April 1964 and became a national sensation. Keyless entry is standard on the V6 standard; 16-inch wheels; Air-conditioning; electric windows, locks and mirrors; cruise control; and a CD player. The V6 Deluxe adds alloy wheels. The V6 Premium adds a 500-watt Shaker 500 Premium audio system with a CD changer, upgraded wheels, and a power driver's seat. An optional Pony Package for V6 Mustangs includes firmer suspension tuning, 17-inch wheels, ABS, fog lights, and a unique grille. Climb aboard the V8-powered GT Deluxe and you'll get all the features of the V6 Deluxe, plus ABS, rear spoiler, fog lights, 17-inch alloy wheels and sport seats. The GT Premium adds the Shaker 500 sound system and leather seats. A 1000-watt Shaker 1000 sound system is optional.
V6 Mustangs include a 4.0-liter V6 with 210 hp and 240 pound-feet of torque. If you hop in the GT, you get a 4.6-liter V8 making 300 hp and 320 pound-feet of torque. All Mustangs are rear-wheel drive and can be equipped with either a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic transmission.
Four-wheel disc brakes are standard on all Mustangs. ABS brakes and traction control are optional on V6 models and standard on the GT. A stability control system is not offered. Front occupant side airbags are optional on all models, but curtain airbags are not available. In NHTSA crash tests, Mustang received a perfect five stars for front-impact protection and four stars for side-impact protection.
Acceleration is lively with the V6, whether you opt for the quick manual shift or the responsive automatic. Of course, the GT offers the ultimate muscle car experience, with plenty of torque fresh off the lineup and an exhaust note to match. The Mustang takes quick, enthusiastic turns with a flat, calm stance. The brakes are powerful, and handling in rough corners is good, despite continued use of a solid rear axle. Wind and road noise are low for a muscle car, and ride quality is surprisingly adequate.
Interior ergonomics have been greatly improved over previous Mustangs, with the driver's seat now placing you in the correct position for shifting and operating the controls. The switches and straps feel solid, and while many of the plastics are coarsely textured, the fit and finish is generally good. The retro design is full of little touches, like the big round speedometer and tachometer (with matching vintage lettering), the dual cowl dash, and a modern steering wheel with a small round airbag hub and available metal spokes. A bold color trim package includes red leather seats, red door panel inserts and floor mats, all set against a dark charcoal interior.

In 2004, the Ford Mustang experienced its rebirth as an American icon with a complete redesign that Ford described as "retro-futurism." The fourth-generation GT Mustang retained the same power from the 4.6-liter overhead-cam engine, which could produce more torque than the base 302 version. Still, many owners complained that the GT version was actually slower, despite the higher revs of the over-the-counter Turbo 4 performance version. The 1979 Mustang was released after the success of the second generation. In 1978 the second generation of the Mustang came to an end. The 1971 model was probably the longest produced Mustang. In 1970, the Mustang was restyled yet again, this time all the headlights were moved to the grille. 1968 was the year of the Mustang's first major makeover. The 1966 model year changed the trim levels of the Mustang. As was common in America at the time, modifications were made to one car every year. 1965 was the first year the GT package was introduced to the Mustang lineup, dubbed the "GT Trim Package." Based on the 1964 Falcon platform, the first-generation Mustang became an American icon and defined the term "pony car," a particular type of automobile.
Henry Ford founded the company in 1902 with $28,000 in cash from twelve investors, including John and Horace Dodge, who later formed the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company. He was 40 years old when he founded the company's first factory on Bagley Street in Detroit.
He later incorporated the company on June 16, 1903. The Ford Motor Company labeled its models chronologically in alphabetical order, beginning with the Model A through the Model K to the Model S, the last four-wheel-drive Ford vehicle to date. right. Then, in 1908, Ford introduced the Model T, designed by Childe Harold Wills and two Hungarian immigrants, Joseph A. Galamb and Eugene Farkas. This model proved to be the quintessential Ford vehicle, making the company one of the most influential automotive brands in history.
The Ford Model T was reliable, practical, and affordable, making it a huge success in the United States, where it was advertised as a gentleman's midsize vehicle. The success of the automobile forced Ford to expand its business and establish the basic principles of mass production in 1913 with the introduction of the world's first vehicle assembly line. In 1912, production figures for the Model T alone reached nearly 200,000 units.
This organizational innovation in vehicle manufacturing allowed Ford to reduce chassis assembly time by up to 10 hours, from 12½ hours to 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Ford not only ensured the efficiency of the production process, but also transformed his company into an interactive entity by announcing a new profit-sharing policy. This would guarantee buyers a reduction in profit if the sale reaches 300,000. Unsurprisingly, sales easily peaked at 300,000 and went even further, reaching a record 501,000 in 1915.
As part of a new set of financial tactics, Ford provided jobs for disabled people who would otherwise have trouble finding work, reduced work shifts and doubled wages for all employees. Changes like these brought a huge increase in sales and laid the foundation for modern working conditions.
Even so, the US and Canadian markets would prove too small to fit into Ford's plans. In the mid-1920s, the Ford brand spanned the ocean, reaching England, France, Germany, Denmark, Austria, and even as far away as Australia. The company's activities in Europe also contributed to the brand's sales growth.
The war would not shake the Ford company so much as it would shake other car manufacturers. Post-World War I improvements include the introduction of four-wheel brakes and a series of new vehicle releases to meet changing consumer demands. In 1922, Ford entered the luxury car segment with the acquisition of the Lincoln Motor Company, named after Abraham Lincoln, whom Henry Ford admired.
Ford Motor Co. was one of the few major American companies to survive the Great Depression, although falling car sales caused the company to downsize and lay off many employees. In May 1929, the Ford Motor Co. signed an agreement with the Soviet Union to provide technical assistance until 1938 to build an integrated automobile plant in Nizhny Novgorod in exchange for the Soviet purchase of automobiles and parts for $13 million. As part of this arrangement, many American engineers and skilled auto workers went to work at the Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod (GAZ), or Gorky Automobile Plant, in 1932. The few who remained in the Soviet Union after the plant's completion fell victim to of Stalin's great terror and were shot or exiled to the Soviet gulags.
With the start of World War II, Ford increased his influence on the world stage and became an active participant in the war effort, highlighted by US President Franklin Roosevelt, who described Detroit as "the arsenal of democracy". When the US War Department transferred production of the B-24 Liberators to Ford, production increased to 20 aircraft per day instead of just one run by the Consolidated Aircraft Corporation.
After World War II, Ford continued its passenger car operations and introduced the legendary Thunderbird model in 1955. It then launched the Edsel brand in 1958, which proved to be a failure and was discontinued in 1960. Part of Edsel's failure as car brand lies in the beginning of the American recession of 1957 and the high price of the vehicle.

Ford fell into brand fatigue that would bring the company to the brink of bankruptcy. After a huge sales slump in the 2000s, Ford found itself stuck against the wall with debt and the threat of closure.
Preferring to go it alone, Ford mortgaged all of its assets in 2006. Since then, the company has launched a variety of new models, both under the Ford brand and under the other sub-brands it owns such as. B. Cooler, edgier Mercurys... and flashier Lincolns, Ford's luxury class. Business in Europe has also been good for Ford, particularly after the launch of the Focus model in 1997, and while it hasn't fully recovered, it's definitely on its way to regaining popularity.

06 Mustang GT with some modifications
I bought my 20k used and added a SCT tuner with Ford Cai and Flow Master mufflers. I get 19.5 mpg city and 24.5 mpg highway on regular 87 octane fuel in normal driving. There are no major mechanical issues to report and I have done several long rides with good comfort. The Mustang GT offers excellent value for money and decent fuel economy. The car is easy to drive for all DIY enthusiasts. I would buy a Mustang again, you can count on that...

I bought this car new and I'm still in love with this car. This car hugs the road and does everything you ask it to do, every time. The only thing I had to fix was the alternator. Of course there are repairs like tires and brakes. This car has been driven all these years and has not a single mechanical flaw! How many cars can you say that about? This car is AWESOME!
166,000 miles and still going strong
I drive many kilometers, at least 150/day. I just replaced the water pump at 166,000 miles and decided it's time to do the rest of the maintenance I've neglected for the last 5 years. I changed the oil regularly with Mobil 1 and changed the brakes when necessary. Other than that, everything has always worked perfectly. I changed the plugs at 140,000 km just for fun. The originals still looked good, they just needed a game setup.

I bought my 06 used a few weeks ago and I'm so glad I did. Screaming Yellow, the car had some upgrades from the previous owner (Airaid air filter system, Flowmaster exhaust). That's about 360 hp of extreme fun. Even though the car had 51,000 miles on it, the Honda dealer offered a 3-year full warranty of 36,000 and I plan on getting the most out of those 36,000 miles. At 45, it was a mid-life crisis that the wife even agreed to. ha ha ha

2014 GT500 is a monster. It's certainly not the fastest car out there, but it's one of the most fun to drive. Loud: The exhaust sound on this car is like no other. It bubbles, hisses or creaks, depending on how you drive the car. The sense of precision of the six gears is perfect. The car attracts a lot of attention. Launch Control is addictive and works well on the road. If you turn the key and don't feel right when the engine comes to life, I recommend buying a Prius. It locks you into seat acceleration. Power at any rpm in any gear. Essentially a street legal race car. Low points: Everyone wants to race you, from rice cookers to Ferraris. Stock tires are terrible in temperatures below 85f. The front is very low so be careful going in and out. It's very difficult to start the car aggressively from a standstill without burning the tires, launch control helps. Shifting into fifth gear takes a bit of getting used to. I love this car! If you're thinking of getting one and like me you're on the fence then go for it, you won't regret it.
