The eye of Hurricane Ian made landfall on Captiva Island, Florida, shortly after 1:00 p.m. m. This applies to Cape Coral and Fort Myers. In this post I show the Doppler radar and the satellite loops when landing. Also some amazing videos dealing with the rare occurrence of water moving away from the coast on the north side, which is in stark contrast to the dreaded storm surge.
Flooding from the storm is the most destructive and deadly at landfall and is expected to reach 18 feet near Fort Myers. Heavy rains can still drop up to 18 inches. Then add EF-3 tornado-equivalent winds over a large area for an hour or two, plus isolated tornadoes. The destruction will be unprecedented in modern American history!
